DarK_AleX Update

When it comes to PSP homebrew heroes, few names measure up to the same level as Dark-AleX. In fact, for every new major brew released, there's a mention of the great developer here and there. He hasn't been active for the longest time, but in an interview with PSP-fanatik, Dark-AleX.org webmaster and m33 member Alek shares that the brewmaster still keeps an eye on the homebrew community, including that of the PS3.



If you're wondering where the DaX is right now and what he's doing, Alek gives an answer without getting too specific. "Actually, and as you might know, the domain and website is under undefined maintenance," he said. "This is because Dark-AleX is resting, also undefinedly, from his developer activity, due to his new responsabilities. Having that in mind, there is no improvements in mind for
the future."



Alek did not mention what these "new responsibilities" were.



As far as the PSP homebrew scene is concerned, it doesn't appear that Alek is very impressed with the developments since m33 was still active.



Dark-AleX was one of the only ones that could make any real job on the PSP Scene, and the rest of those so-called developers were just copying his job, and changing names. You can see how this is as there hasn’t been any major revision of the CFW since he left. And that’s sad.

Also, it doesn’t seems that anyone has actually learnt anything from what we have left behind, as piracy is still a curse that is needed to be eradicated, and ‘fame’ is something too juicy for some people to forget about.



DaX's inactivity, as Alek believes, has left the PSP scene dry.



Until someone actually codes something new instead of copying what was Dark-AleX job and makes a new core for the new firmwares, yes, the Scene will be dead.



As for the emerging PS3 scene, Dark-AleX may not be active, but he's still keeping himself updated. "Actually, we’ve grabbed some popcorns and we are watching how this movie is evolving," Alek said. "We’ll have to see what happens on the next months." That, of course, is not to say that Dark-AleX is coming out of the dark to work on the PS3.



As Alek put it:

Considering all that we have said before, I’d hope that there will be something that will unleash, again, the power of this console, even though we still need to see some real action of the actual developers, reversing and making the real deal here, creating a new CFW core from scratch just as Alex used to do when Sony changed the encryption keys and so on.

LOL. no this is not m33-7. DaX hasnt published a new m33 for a long time and probably wont. This is just an interview.

if im not mistaken m33-7 was the cfw for the ofw 5.50 but im not sure and m33-7 has so many glitches so do not use it. you might fry your PSP someone already has.

Awww! Now i remember m33 7! lol i had it about 6 months ago and it absolutely SUCKED! It bricked a PSP so bad that even a Pandora couldnt repair it lol. Ill take a look at the source and see if i can fix it now that i have my special PBP extracter tools lol
